Our true power rises up from within us, from our essence.
We can’t pray for it to be given to us, bestowed on us by any external force, it is something that we choose in every moment to move towards or away from.
In every moment, in every interaction and in every action we have in our lives, we choose whether to honour the inspiration that comes from within us, that is our authentic self, or we choose to react or respond from another place, whether conditioning that we have learned, from past wounds that inhibit us, or from a place of obligation or what we think others expect of us.
It is very very difficult to live in the moment, free of any direction but the one within us. We constantly adjust our behaviour in subtle or not so subtle ways to be who we think will be more acceptable to the person in front of us, or to the people in our heads by whose standards we silently judge ourselves.
However, the cost of that is that each time we choose to act from anything other than our authentic, whole, unwounded self, to fit in or to have peace or to avoid hurting someone’s feelings, we actually lose spiritual power as we disconnect ourselves ever so slightly from Source and Truth and instead live a ‘peaceful’ lie.
To be totally ourselves and to be accepted or rejected for that is ultimately the most empowering thing we can do for ourselves and all other beings, compared to being accepted for being an inauthentic version of ourselves, which, ultimately, not only disempowers us, but also those who know or love the fake version of ourselves that we project ‘for them’.
Today, when you are able to bring awareness to the moment, stop and feel into it .. what is motivating you? Are you hiding your authentic self for short-term acceptance or approval?
How can you be more authentic in this moment?
And know, that true authenticity, flows from your essence .. within it is held the love and compassion for all other beings.
Absolutely beautiful, Natalie <3.
I believe that being your true self is the number one key to a happy life ๐
I am too old not to be authentic where ever I go.
It almost ALWAYS takes people back… People don't know how to react. Eventually at parties, I find that most people, feeling uncomfortable at the prospect of authenticity, leave me to myself. For that occasion, I always carry a book!
So at black tie events, and other nonsense around NYC, you'll find me there in the corner somewhere reading a book.
This is my reality!
People here find authenticity to be an alien, and thus, absolutely uncomfortable concept!
amen, brother.
amen, brother.
One of the things I find, is that the more authentic I am, although some people may feel uncomfortable and step back, many others feel as liberated as I do in being able to step up and be authentic themselves, so that my 'tribe' keeps growing. Maybe I have been lucky enough to find myself drawn to live in a place where that is more possible? Or perhaps that is just my reality ๐

There is nothing easier or better than being "You". The people that are attracted to you will stick by you during trials simply because they can trust you!
